PANO | LA – 10K

Shooting Pano LA has been the most ambitious, challenging, demanding, and rewarding project I have worked on to date. It was shot over a period of two years entirely in true panoramic form using two synced DSLR cameras side by side. The resulting panoramic timelapse footage comes in at a whopping 10K x 4K resolution when stitched. I did not shoot this film to achieve the extreme resolution. I shot it for the panoramic look, especially the compressed look you get when using long lenses.
Shooting panoramic timelapse was something I had always wanted to do. I love panoramic images and wanted to bring that look to timelapse, and I wanted to do it proper, not by faking it by just cropping the top and bottom of regular timelapse shots. I gave it a try many years ago but was never able to get the images from the two cameras to sync properly and get the images to stitched together correctly.
A couple years ago I was contacted by a client wanting some panoramic timelapse shots of LA. I told them I had tried it in the past and it did not work out to well, but that I am willing to give it another try. So I purchased some new gear and set out to my local testing locations in Malibu. The initial shots were successful so I continued shooting / testing for the next couple weeks. At that point I had acquired a few good test shots to show the client and sent them over to them. Long story short I never heard back from them about the project, but I kept shooting anyways. If it was not for that failed job/project I probably would have never got around to giving panoramic timelapse another try.

VJ Loops reaches yearly milestone

So after a long year of ups and downs with a questionable global economy VJ Loops continues to deliver affordable high quality royalty free stock footage and visuals. Some of our subscribers from last year may have remembered our milestone from last December 2009. We had set a goal of having 10,000 loops before the year’s end. Not only did we reach our milestone goal of 20,000 loops in HD & SD for this year we we exceeded our expectations by far. Our current library now consists of:

  • 560 SD Loop Packs
  • 365 HD 1080p Loop Packs
  • 55 HD 720p Loop Packs
  • 60 HD Wide Loop Packs
  • Plus over 27 DVD titles to choose from

This brings our total loop collection to: 26,460 Loops!!!

Of course this all wouldn’t be possible without the customers and artists who help keep this site alive. Without you there is no VJ Loops. Thank you all for your continued support, patronage and hard work.

As we all know it’s the artists that bring us the tasty motion graphics, videos and animations that we crave. So some proper introductions are in order for some fresh faces. VJ Loops would like to welcome some new team members. (click link to visit their content)

One of the important tasks at VJ Loops is sourcing new content. Every month we try to bring something new to the table in terms of motion graphics, animation in 2D/3D and video. This month we did just that. Take a look at the above links and I am sure you will be surprised at what you see. Where else can you find stock footage and visuals with object mapping & Arduino technology? Let us know so we can recruit them for 🙂

Wicked object mapping by Johannes LDC Guerreiro

various objects – projection mapping from Johannes LDC Guerreiro on Vimeo.

Some objects deliver an attractive surface for throwing light with a beamer on it. Some others show an intensive inside space, like the harddisk. the projections are proposed to be frontal from one top direction – so its always about the top surfaces to be projected on. In some cases its possible to work with free forms, which do not break the 90° angle of the top surface like the hemisphere obejct, or the sound-damping peaks…
